Cross Country Skiing or Nordic Skiing can be like a peaceful stroll in the park or an extreme endurance sport.  All depends on the energy and speed put into the sport.

There are two methods for cross country skiing, Skating and Traditional.  Skating creates a herring bone pattern on the trails while traditional is a straight forward movement keeping the skis in grooves created by a grooming machine.
